How To Join The Texins Flying Club

There are several good ways to join the flying club.

  • Your first point of contact should be our Membership Officer or President (see Flying Club Officers). If you can't reach either of them call any officer (we love to talk about flying). We will then see that you receive an introductory packet including all the required membership application forms.
  • You can also download a New Member Application Packet in pdf format directly from our website.   You can then fill out the required forms, sign them and mail them to the Texins Flying Club, along with your initiation fee (see below).
  • To expedite your membership application, fill out the New Member Application Form online, print it (before submitting it) and then submit it electronically using the button provided.  You will be given the option of paying your initiation fee by check or by PayPal.  You must read and sign, agreeing to comply with the Member Financial Agreement and TFC Regulations.  You must sign and date the Credit Card Authorization. Mail the Sign & Date the Application form (the one submitted electronically), Financial Agreement and Credit Card Authorization and send to the Texins Flying Club.  Once these (3) Forms and Payment have been processed, you will be notified and a club number will be assigned with instructions as to how to log into the website. (Print forms with no header or footer, top/bottom set to 0.25 and scale to 85%)

You can always attend one of our board or membership meetings. We hold these monthly and guests are always welcome. Membership meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month. The meeting is at 9:30 AM.

The way most new members join is during the private pilot ground school. We hold these twice a year (Spring & Fall) and offer it at a significant discount to students who join the club. You will want to be a club member if you plan taking flight instruction concurrent with your ground instruction (assuming you wish to use TFC aircraft and instructors for your flight instruction). We widely advertise the ground school and the first night is informational to help determine if flying is for you.

Here are the details about joining the Texins Flying Club:

  1. Complete the membership application forms.

  2. Attach a check (or pay online when available), payable to Texins Flying Club, in the following amount:

    • $180 for a regular member
    • $90 if someone in your immediate family is already a member of the Texins Flying Club

  3. Send your application forms to Texins Flying Club, P.O. Box 831311, Richardson, TX 75083-1311 c/o Membership VP

  4. After your application is processed you will be assigned a club membership number. Your membership number will be communicated to you through email or through a phone call.  Write your club membership number down and be sure to affix your number on all correspondence with the Texins Flying Club.

  5. Contact the club’s chief flight instructor and he will assign you an instructor or conduct a Club Checkout.

  6. On the 5th of each month you will receive a statement by e-mail from the club for all airplane rental and instructor charges you incurred for the previous month. This statement will also include charges for the next month’s dues, which are currently $45 per month, or $22.50 if someone in your immediate family is already a member of the Texins Flying Club. Your very first bill will also include a charge for the prorated dues for the month in which you joined. Make sure you pay the statement in full each month and always write your TFC membership number in the memo section on your check.

  7. If you decide to quit the club then you must provide written notification in order to stop the accumulation of monthly dues. If you quit and decide to rejoin at a later time, you will have to pay the initiation fee. This requirement is meant to discourage people from quitting the club when the weather turns bad and then rejoining when the weather turns good again. Under some circumstances the second initiation fee can be waived by petitioning the TFC board. One instance where the fee may be waived is if business moved you away from the Dallas area then brought you back at a later time.
