This year it was cool and cloudy...very pleasant all said and done. Grills were hot at 11:00 AM with burgers and dogs with all the trimmings. We rolled out a new financial agreement at the picnic and discussed it with those who were there. You can expect more about this mailed to you in the next week. We are going to need new membership and financial agreement forms filled out and signed. In addition, we need a credit card form filled out and signed. These documents are to be delivered to the Texins PO Box address by snail mail, not email, to put you in good standing with the new procedures. After full implementation, your credit card on file will become an additional method of payment for those who wish to use it in lieu of writing us a check. To avoid penalties, we will charge your credit card only if payment is late.

From KTKI Director of Operations:
Collin County Regional Airport (TKI) will begin Sequence 2 of Phase 3 of the Replacement Runway Thursday April 12, 2012. This sequence will tie the south end of the new runway into the existing runway. The construction will last 55 calendar days. During this time frame the Runway 35 threshold will be displaced and the south 1000 feet closed for use. It will act as a safety area during the construction. We will also place the correct markings to reflect this displacement.
On April 12th at 6pm (1800L) Runway 17-35 will be CLOSED until the following morning at 7am (0700L). The runway will be reopened at 7am however the portion of runway south of Taxiway Echo will be unavailable for use until the markings have been completed to reflect the runway displacement. This will still give you about 5200 feet of runway use for the first half of the day.
Once the striping and markings have been completed then the runway will open up to 6000 feet of use for the duration of Sequence 2.
The Localizer will also be decommissioned on April 12th therefore having the ILS system completely offline until the new system has been installed and the approaches published for the new runway in September. You will still have RNAV (GPS) approaches available during this time. Additionally since the Runway 35 threshold will be displaced, the VASI’s will be turned off as well until this sequence has been completed.
We ask that you plan you flights accordingly during this period of interruption. If you should have any questions about this process please feel free to contact me.

Our current reimbursement rate at KTKI is $6.64/gallon. If you refuel offsite and provide the receipt from your fuel purchase, we reimburse you at the McKinney fuel rate. Generally speaking, you will SAVE beetween 10% and 20% on your flight. It's simple to get reimbursed. - When you re-fuel offsite, make sure not to forget your receipt.
- When you land at McKinney, use a pen to write your club number on the receipt. Also, write the number of gallons purchased in the tach log.
- When you return the aircraft key, drop the fuel receipt in the slot of the coinbox sitting in the TFC keybox.
- THAT'S IT. Look for the credit on your next TFC invoice!
--- Aircraft Scheduling Guidelines --- Just a reminder of some things to keep in mind when reserving aircraft with the TFC. - Members are only allowed to reserve a single aircraft for the same date and time.
- Only one aircraft reservation is allowed to be scheduled beyond 10 days in the future.
- Designated trainer aircraft cannot be scheduled for overnight cross-country flights without prior approval by the Board.
- We will restrict your access to the scheduling system if our records indicate:
- you have not entered the membership information (including emergency contact info) and changed the password
- your medical has expired
- your yearly club check-out has expired
- your bi-annual FAA check-out has expired
- your financial account with the club is 60 days in arrears.
- No shows are extremely frustrating to the rest of the membership. PLEASE cancel if you can't use the time you have scheduled. Club rules state the penalties for no shows, but if everyone is courteous we will not have to use them.
- If you are grounded due to weather, cancel ASAP so that an IFR pilot may be able to use the aircraft.
- If weather or a maintenance problem keeps you from returning on time, call the Operations VP (or any Board member) so we can inform other members who might be affected.
